But when evidence in the murder of a powerful elder points to Lucius, sending him into solitary confinement, Jessica is suddenly on her own. The snow swirls around her, and she stands with her back to me, her body enveloped in a bright red cloak.

The queen who once ruled the Dragomirs looks like a splash of blood against the expanse of white, and yet she is as strong and substantial as the jagged Carpathian rocks that rise out of the lonely Romanian mountain where we always meet. I step toward her, not understanding. And then Mihaela Dragomir does turn, her face obscured by the cloak.

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side An average girl from a small town learns she is destined to rule a Vampire kingdom. Jessica Packwood wasn’t expecting anything exciting to happen in her senior year in her small hometown. The last thing she expected was a new, hot, exchange student from Romania to barge into her life and change everything she thought she knew. From the vary beginning, Lucius Vladescu has his sights on Jessica who cant figure out why. Once she confronts his on his odd behavior Lucas reveals that he is a vampire prince and she is his destined princess.

A sequel to Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side finds newlywed Jessica Packwood struggling with her initial responsibilities as a royal vampire until.

But is Jess the crazy one for resisting the sexy Romanian young man who tries to swoon her off the bat? But how long can you push away a vampire without getting bitten? I absolutely loved this book. You get the greatest view of both Jessica and Lucius and why they do what they do. Jess through the general narration and Lucius through the letters he writes to his uncle in Romania. Lucius is my ideal picture of a vampire, with glimpses of a human soul, but also the ability to be cold in a way that he can distance himself from all emotion and attachment.

And the sex appeal… well that was dead-on. Jessica has flaws as a character and strengths as well. I liked watching her change throughout the course of the book into more of a regal vampire than American teenage girl. This was my first book review I did on my blog! I really really want to read this! Sounds good! Thanks for the insight!

JESSICA RULES THE DARK SIDE

But just as the relationship between Jessica and Lucius has matured and moved to the next level, so has their story. In many ways, Jessica Rules the Dark Side straddles the line between young adult and adult fiction. The content is perfectly safe for younger teen readers, but her characters have matured and so the situations they face are more mature as well.

Jessica Packwood was adopted in Romania when just an infant. As the novel begins, we find her living happily on her adoptive parent’s farm in rural Pennsylvania. Jessica is your average teenager. She gets along with her parents, does her chores, and is not afraid to get dirty mucking out horse stalls. Although a very pretty girl, her dating life is nonexistent.

We find out she has yet to even experience her first kiss. However, the wheels are in motion for all of that to change. As she steps out of her house the first day of school her senior year, she is unnerved by a creepy guy staring at her intently from across the street– He was standing under a massive beech tree across the road from me, his arms crossed over his chest. The tree’s low, gnarled branches twisted down around him, nearly concealing him in limbs and leaves and shadows.

But it was obvious that he was tall and wearing a long, dark coat, almost like a cloak. My chest clenched, and I swallowed hard. Who stands under a tree at the crack of dawn, in the middle of nowhere, wearing a black cloak? He must have realized I’d spotted him, because he shifted a little, like he was deciding whether to leave. Or maybe cross the road.

This week again I was lucky enough to have a YA author give me an exclusive interview! No, while I was growing up, I had no idea that I wanted to write, and I actually became a writer out of necessity. When I graduated from college, I had no job prospects, so when a friend mentioned that a public relations office was hiring writers, I applied. I write while my three children are at school.

As soon as they are out of the house, I sit down to work. What do you say to people who want to be writers? How difficult is it to get published? I always give people the same boring but sincere advice, which is to treat writing like anything else you want to be good at — meaning practice every day. I worked as a professional writer for nearly twenty years before I tried a novel, and I learned something every day on the job.

I envy people who can create detailed plots, though. I generally strive to finish one chapter each day, but hopefully achieve more than that. One chapter mine are usually short seems like an achievable goal — and not overly intimidating — so I think about that as I sit down at my computer. To write this book, where did you get your inspiration from? Were you aware of the coming vampire trend in YA literature when you wrote it?
